The Australian Lung Foundation is a national non-profit organisation. It is proud to provide LungNet - a network of affiliated support groups throughout Australia helping patients, their families and carers to manage Chronic Lung Disease.

Chronic Lung Diseases, such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), can be a stressful life event.

Apart from the physical symptoms, a patient may feel depressed, anxious, worried, irritable, isolated and confused. Patient support is all about helping to manage and control symptoms, overcome negative feelings and build confidence again. 

Patient Support Groups can help people find enjoyment in a renewed quality of life through information, friendship, encouragement and shared experiences. Extending beyond individuals, it is often families and carers who need support as well. They also feel stress and concerns about what is happening and need the opportunity to learn and meet with others to share experiences.

	The "Sail On - Live with COPD" trademark encourages people with COPD to be active and live life to the full. Living and managing with COPD is about getting the wind back into your sails, so to speak, and taking a positive, pro-active approach to life.
